Commute Board ("the Extension") is a browser extension that shows live London Tube and National Rail commute information using the Transport for London (TfL) Open API and National Rail Darwin data. This policy explains what data the Extension handles.

Summary

• We do not operate servers that collect your personal data for advertising or analytics.
• Your commute routes and settings are stored locally in your browser.
• The Extension sends requests to https://api.tfl.gov.uk and to a small Cloudflare Worker that proxies National Rail Darwin departure data. Those requests include station identifiers needed to fetch live times.
• We do not sell your data.

Data stored on your device

The Extension uses chrome.storage.local (or the equivalent in Microsoft Edge) to save:

• Morning and evening commute stations (names and stop identifiers)
• Resolved route metadata (lines, National Rail CRS codes, interchange information)
• Your preferences (poll interval, notification settings, snooze state)
• A small cache of recent disruption information for delay detection

This data stays on your device unless you uninstall the Extension or clear extension storage in your browser settings.

Data sent over the network

When you use the Extension, your browser makes HTTPS requests to:

• The TfL Unified API for station search, Tube/DLR/Elizabeth line/Overground arrivals, line status, and journey planning.
• A Cloudflare Worker operated for this project, which forwards departure-board requests to National Rail Darwin (via the Rail Data Marketplace). The Worker receives the station CRS codes you have configured and returns live departure, platform, and delay information. It does not create user accounts and does not store commute preferences.

TfL's handling of API traffic is governed by TfL's terms. National Rail Darwin access is under National Rail's open data terms.

Permissions

• Storage — save your commute and settings locally.
• Alarms — periodically check status for toolbar alerts.
• Notifications — show optional desktop alerts for new delays (can be disabled).
• Host permissions — fetch live transport data from TfL and the Darwin proxy Worker.

Analytics and tracking

The Extension does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Children

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest version.
